Soul Prosperity, Not Working a Program

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." (3 John 2)

This prayer is God's wish for us.

Not that we would be effective ministers of the Gospel.

Not that we would worship Him in all times and in every.

His greatest prayer is that we prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper.

Our souls prosper as we walk in the truth of the Gospel, as borne out in the next two verses of John's Third Epistle:

"3For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. 4I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." (3 John 3-4)

We cannot walk in the truth of the Gospel if we believe that Jesus did not finish the work. We cannot walk in the truth of the Gospel.

The Gospel speaks of our full righteousness in Christ, not in our efforts, and not in our trying to earn righteousness through efforts.

The AA program fills members' minds with lies and distortions, and not the truth.

Working a program cannot prosper your soul, anyway, because in Christ, our soul is already prospering!

Meditate on His Word, grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord, and watch the Holy Spirit transform you from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3: 18)
