While AA claims to provide power, Christ is the Power that we need, because He has all the Power:
"13I can do all
things through Christ which strengtheneth me." (Philippians 4: 13)
and then
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus." (Philippians 4: 19)
In his epistle to the Colossians, Paul explains the fullness and the supremacy of Christ, and all the Power that He Has, and Is:
"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: 16For by him
were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or
powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17And he is
before all things, and by him all things consist. 18And he is the
head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things he might have the preeminence. 19For it
pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; 20And, having
made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto
himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things
in heaven." (Colossians 1: 15-20)
Whatever higher power you and I can think of, Jesus Christ has already beat us to it. He made everything, and He holds everything together, and everything was made for His glory, not for yours and mine.
Yet Jesus is no stingy, selfish monarch, but the most loving Servant:
"For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to
minister, and to give his life a ransom for many." (Mark 10: 45)
and then:
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3: 16)
and also:
"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to
destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it
more abundantly." (John 10: 10)
And do not forget:
"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can
be against us? 32He that spared
not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also
freely give us all things? 33Who shall lay any
thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34Who is he
that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again,
who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." (Romans 8: 31-34)
God gives us beyond what we can ask or think in Christ (Ephesians 3: 20). Forget about a "conception" of God, and forget about seeking a "Higher Power", for there is no other name named under heaven by which a man may be saved but in Jesus!
